Print Care
Good design deserves thoughtful care. Here are practical answers to help you understand your print and keep your everyday favourites looking their best.
What will the print feel like?
Print feel depends on the fabric and printing method. Direct-to-garment (DTG) printing applies ink directly to the garment, while sublimation embeds dye into polyester-based fibres, so the design feels part of the fabric rather than a separate layer. Direct-to-film prints can feel more noticeable or slightly stiff at first. Not every all-over print uses sublimation: all-over cotton uses a different process. If feel is important to you, ask us about the specific item before ordering.
Will the colours fade after washing?
How a print ages depends on its printing method, fabric, wear and care. DTG prints can gradually lighten over repeated washes. Sublimation bonds dye into synthetic fibres and is generally more resistant to washing out, but that is not a promise that every garment will stay unchanged. We do not promise a fixed number of washes or a fade-proof finish. Gentle washing and avoiding excessive heat help protect both the print and the fabric.
How should I wash my printed clothing?
Use the product-specific print-care instructions alongside the garment label. For Printful DTG garments, the supplier recommends washing cold, inside out, on a gentle cycle with similar colours and a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softener and dry cleaning. Do not assume these instructions apply to every printing method or product.
If the label and print-care guidance differ, or the method is not stated, contact us before washing. Ask us for supplier-confirmed instructions for your exact item, including temperature, bleach, drying and ironing guidance.
Can I tumble-dry or iron the print?
For Printful DTG garments, hang-drying is recommended; tumble-drying on low is also permitted by the supplier. If ironing is needed, use a cool iron with the garment inside out and never iron directly over the print. Other fabrics and finishes may have different requirements. Check the item's specific instructions rather than assuming that tumble-drying or ironing is suitable.
Will the design sit exactly as shown in the photos?
Small placement variations can occur during printing and garment production. All-over patterns may sit differently from one item to another, and exact alignment across seams or from front to back is not guaranteed. DTG printing can also involve minor placement variation. If a design looks substantially misplaced, cropped or different from the item you ordered, contact us with photographs so we can review it. We do not treat every difference as an expected variation.
Why does a print look softer on some fabrics?
The fabric influences the result. Printful notes that DTG prints on some mixed-fibre fabrics can have a softer, more washed-out or vintage appearance, with the fabric showing through the ink. This is different from a print unexpectedly losing colour after washing. If you are unsure which you are seeing, send us a clear photograph and the product details.
What about pilling?
Pilling resistance varies with the fabric; we do not promise a pill-free finish. Follow the care instructions for your item rather than applying one routine to every material. If small surface bobbles appear unusually early or you are unsure whether you are seeing fabric wear or a print problem, contact us before trying a fabric shaver or other treatment on the printed area. Ask us to confirm suitable care with the supplier.
When should I contact support?
Contact Good Wishes 365 if your item arrives with a damaged, peeling, cracked or visibly misplaced print, if you notice unexpected colour loss after following the care guidance, or if you need instructions before the first wash. Include your order number, the item name, a photograph of the whole garment and a close-up of the affected area. For wash-related concerns, include a photo of the care label and tell us the wash temperature, detergent and drying method used. This gives us the information needed to review the issue with the supplier.
For a new item with a visible issue, take photographs before washing or treating it. If you are simply unsure how to care for it, ask first. Thoughtful care starts with instructions that match your garment.
